Come Race with Us!

No matter why you ride, you might wonder what it's like to race. If you race, you might wonder what it's like to be part of a team.

The BBC is a rider development club that is great to be part of. There are two levels of racing that you could consider: General Club Rider, and Race Team Member.

All club riders are our members in good standing with great benefits including pro deals on:

  • GU& G2O
  • Giant Bicycles (including mountain bikes) at 15% less than wholesale, which works out to approximately 1/2 the MSRP.
  • Ritchey Logic components at wholesale including tires and tubes available at the meetings.
  • Wenzel Coaching provides their services at a considerable discount (~$50/mo.), and if you have questions you can contact our team coach Scott Saifer.
  • Mike’s Bike: Just show your USAC card and receive 15% off.
  • Tahoe XC - Cross country skiing free season pass at.
  • Race Reimbursements: Based on contributions to the club.
  • Voler Clothing: Subsidized kits

The 2009 BBC Race Team is open to all category 1-4 riders, men and women and Juniors!

The 2009 race team chair is Myong-Jae Kim. To contact him, select "Race Team" on the Contacts Page

The race team will be selected by the Race Team Chair with the recommendation of the race team captains and the club President.

Team Members may be added through the course of the year, but each new member must fulfil all race team requirements, and all races must be in BBC kit with BBC on USAC license..

Members not selected for the Race Team or that can not meet obligations of the Race Team may race for BBC on the club team and will receive all general club benefits.

Race Team members will split all funds designated from BBC BOD. It is estimated that equal shares for the team will be approimately $375 each, based on a 20-person team.

**All benefits will be compensated at the end of the year when all obligations are made**

Race Team Requirements & Obligations:

  1. Race designated races with some flexibility determined by the race board
  2. Race a minimum of 20 races as a category 1-4
  3. Volunteer [coordinator positions preferred] for a minimum of two BBC events (races)
  4. Have BBC as team on USAC license and race/train in current kit
  5. Fulfill sponsor promotion/endorsement duties (TBD by sponsors)

The Board of Directors unanimously voted “Yea” to the above program at the November 2006 Board Meeting, after several weeks of discussion, emails, and revised drafts. The purpose is to retain and attract talented racers. The secondary purpose is to provide incentive for racers to race as much as possible so all members have teammate in races. The BOD believes this to be the best package for amateur racers in the area.
