Berkeley Bicycle Club Orinda, CA Sunday, March 09, 2008 Location: From Orinda (Hwy 24) 2.4 miles west on Camino Pablo to the San Pablo Reservoir Boat Launch ( Old San Pablo Dam Road ); turn right and follow the service Road 1.5 miles to parking lots. From I-80 take San Pablo Dam Rd. east . Exit 8.9 miles at San Pablo Reservoir Boat Launch ( Old San Pablo Dam Rd. ) to Boat Launch and parking. Drive carefully on the service road because of bad pavement and riders will be using it to warm up! Course: Registration at San Pablo Reservoir Boat Launch. Start is on San Pablo Dam Rd. West 5.1 miles to right turn on Castro Ranch. 2.4 miles to right on Alhambra Valley . 2.7 miles to right on Bear Creek Rd. 6.4 miles to finish at top of (or just after) Papa Bear. 16.6 total miles with 3 climbs and 3 fast descents. Categories and Start: First team off at 8:01am. Starts are 2-minute intervals for 4-person teams, 30 -second intervals for 2-person teams. 4-person teams first. Two Person Teams Order: Elite 1/2/Pro, Elite 3/4 Men, Elite 5, Master’s (combined ages) 70+, 90+, 110+, Women 1/2/pro, Wmn 3/4, Women 80+. Women 100+, Jr’s., Coed, and Tandem. New Field limit: 210 teams (420 riders) and 20 4-person teams. First team off at 8:01 am.
Prizes: At least $200 for 4-person open, $100 cash plus merchandise to P /1/2 and W P /1/2. $60.00 cash plus merchandise/gift certificates in all categories except merchandise only to junior's categories. An additional $40 goes to the fastest (two person) time of the day. Map & Start times: Map | Start times on our website by Friday, March 7th evening. Registration opens at 6:30am. Please Note: No warming up on San Pablo Dam Rd. Do not cross the finish line unless you are finishing. All USCF rules apply. No unofficial follow vehicles. Obey all traffic laws. ONE FOOT ON THE GROUND TO START. ANSI approved helmet required. A portion of this year's event will be donated to the East Bay Regional Park District.
